Etienne Hernández-Medina is president and CEO of H+M Communications (H+M), and is a seasoned consumer and entertainment marketing professional with more than two decades of experience in high-level strategic marketing and positioning, media planning and buying, creative advertising and content development, media relations, community relations, social media and digital communications, research and competitive intelligence, crisis management, experiential and WOM marketing, and corporate communications.
Prior to founding H+M in 2003, Etienne held senior management positions at leading public relations agencies Weber Shandwick Worldwide and Edelman Public Relations, as well as served as executive vice president of publicity and corporate communications for a subsidiary of Universal Pictures.
As managing partner of H+M, he leads the firms day-to-day operations and oversees national integrated marketing campaigns on behalf of Universal Pictures, Universal Studios Home Entertainment, Alcon Entertainment, RADiUS/The Weinstein Company, F. Gaviña & Sons, Don Francisco's Coffee, Café La Llave, JAKKS Pacific, John Watlings Rum and Distillery, Hallmark Movie Channel, Shine America, Disney Consumer Products, Comedy Central, Paramount Home Entertainment, and Comcast Corporation.
In addition, he serves as chief creative officer for the agency's in-house content development and syndication practice Studio 20/42.
Recent successes include theatrical marketing campaigns on behalf of Fox Searchlight's Under the Same Moon/Bajo La Misma Luna and Universal Pictures' Les Miserables, Dr. Seuss' The Lorax, Despicable Me and Despicable Me 2, Bridesmaids, and Fast & Furious; marketing, publicity and digital marketing campaigns for 20th Television's American Idol and Simon Fuller/XIX Entertainment's Q'Viva: The Chosen.
Over the years, Etienne has managed dozens of programs for major consumer, tourism/hospitality, television/cable, entertainment, technology, and telecommunications brands including M&M/Mars, United Airlines, Dominican Republic Tourism (SECTUR), Guatemala Tourism (INGUAT), Miller Brewing Co., Merck, The Playboy Channel, Fox Soccer Channel, Fox Deportes, Cisco Systems, Avaya, Verizon, AT&T, and Expedia. He's handled crisis and issues management work on behalf of Goya Foods, Expedia, and Fox Sports Latin America. An alumnus of the University Miami, Etienne resides in Los Angeles.
